Family Background / Personal details / Past achievements

I am from Siliguri. I got a 9.6 in my CBSE class 10 exams, and a 95.6 % in my class 12 boards. Stood 2nd in North Bengal in Science in CBSE Class 12.

Schooling and Coaching

Delhi Public School, Siliguri & Aakash Institute, Siliguri

Books you reffered to

Arihant physics, Arihant chemistry, and NCERTs of all three subjects

Any experience regarding PMT preparation you would like to share. Any advice you would like to give to the PMT aspirants

focussing on NCERT is the most important. People neglect NCERT thinking that there’s not much in it, but trust me, 90 % of the questions in CBSE conducted medical entrance WILL be from NCERT.

What were your Strength and weakness? Why do you think you were able to crack the exam?

I was strong in physics, which helped me a lot, because as far as i have seen medical students have problems with physics the most. So i made this weakness my strength which helped me a lot.

Did you read my books? If yes, did you like them? Would you suggest the same to other students?

No

Topper’s Interviews

Sarbajit Saha
I am a student from West Bengal. Though I couldn’t clear the AIPMT and WBJEE this year, yet I did well in other all India level exams, after preparing from Rahul Chawla’s books. I cleared cutoff in JIPMER , COMEDK , IPUCET, and a few of the other exams. Since my rank was low in this exams, I couldn’t pursue the MBBS course but I have got admission to AB Shetty dental College in Mangalore on the basis of merit after clearing the Nitte University UGET test. In hindsight, I would like to thank Rahul Chawla and all the other people who have worked so hard to create this website and the two books. It is only because of their dedicated effort towards aspiring medical students that I have been able to get into the BDS course. I would like to say that the two books authored by Rahul Chawla are tailor-made to clear the Biology papers in any PMT exam. Thank You once again and best of luck to all the other medical and dental aspirants , who will be appearing next year .

Family Background / Personal details / Past achievements

Just another middle class family

Schooling and Coaching

Don Bosco, Bandel / No coaching attended

Books you reffered to

Biology@fingertips, Handbook of Biology, Dinesh Objective Physics, Chemistry and Biology

Any experience regarding PMT preparation you would like to share. Any advice you would like to give to the PMT aspirants

The mnemonics, although few, given in Biology@fingertips are very important. The diagramatic labellings in BHU and JIPMER will come from those given in Rahul Chawla’s books. Study Dinesh Physical Chemistry Objective book and you can sail through 50% of Chemistry. For Physics , Dinesh Objective Physics is tailor-made. And don’t ignore electromagnetism part in Physics, and Genetics portion in Biology. Go easy on Lens and Mirrors in Physics, Organometallic in Chemistry and Root, stem, leaves portion in Botany. Study Flower, fruit, and seeds portion very well. And think positive but don’t be overconfident.

What were your Strength and weakness? Why do you think you were able to crack the exam?

My weakness was Organic Chemistry. In hindsight, I think that if I was not so paranoid in revising the already prepared portions again and again, then I could have made out more time for Organic. My strength was that I prepared extensively from Dinesh Objective Physics and regualrly practiced atleast 15-20 sums from either Physics or Chemistry. This helped me to not be afraid of sums on the day of the exams. I just went with the exams as if it was just another test paper I was solving. I solved lots of test papers that I got from Aakash Institute through correspondence course.

Did you read my books? If yes, did you like them? Would you suggest the same to other students?

Yes, I prepared Biology extensively from Biology@fingertips and Handbook of Biology. I also consulted Dinesh Objective Biology for Reproduction chapters. I would suggest the same to all aspiring medical and dental students. And don’t hesitate to ask any doubts you have on this website. They are always entertained here. Best of Luck. Just believe you can and never ever give up. Study diligently this one year, forgetting all computer games and social networking sites. It will be worth it once you have got admission to a good medical and dental college next year.

  1. Aritra Roy says:

Rahul Bhaiya Please tell me the books to complete the areas to get a good rank in NEET 2017?

    1)Biology
    2) Physical Chemistry
    3) Inorganic Chemistry
    4) Organic Chemistry
    5) Physics

Is NCERT Chemistry enough for Inorganic & Organic Chemistry?

  2. dipanwita chakraborty says:

I already secured 2987 rank in NEET as a fresher.bt I want to repeat this year for preparing aiims.is it a right decision?

    • Rahul Chawla says:

If you get a college in state capital, no need. Would be a big gamble. Would depend on which college you get. Still I would advise, if you get a decent college near your home town…don’t go for a drop. Prepare well for PG. You got to be fully prepared mentally and strategically to take that gamble. First see what you get.

      • Dipanwita chakraborty says:

I think I wl manage to get either CMC or NRS of my state capital Kolkata..bt I am nt mentally satisfied…n my parents r nt convinced with my decision.still I feel to take the risk…as I really did hard work last two years n ready to do more ….nw u give ur opinion

      • Rahul Chawla says:

First sit for counseling and see what colleges you are getting. If not satisfied, you may take a drop.

  3. Naveen says:

how the result and ranking of neet1 and neet2 will be declare?
    please tell me.

  4. Naveen Mahato says:

Hello, please give me the right way of studying for upcoming neet-2 exam. I do hard work but perhaps its not a right way because I am not getting above 400 marks .
—way of writing notes in copy.
    — way of revising.
    —- last night revision.
I have eager to become a doctor.

    • Deepak Dwivedi says:

This is not the time to study, it’s the time to only revise. Do not study any new topic, just revise whatever you’ve studied till now. Cram all the formulas in physics and chemistry. Just solve as many previous year papers as possible. That’s it, do this much and have faith in yourself.

  5. Gayatri says:

    I’m getting 293 marks in NEET-1 2016 should I apply for NEET-2. I’m from OBC category.

  6. Debarshi Maity says:

i sat in the exam aiims..but l feel trobule in general knowledge

    • Rahul Chawla says:

Well, GK is the last thing to be studied for AIIMS. Don’t waste time right now. I have seen students reading GK quiz books from the starting, but can’t even manage to get 50% in AIIMS entrance. That’s useless.

Just a week before AIIMS entrance, get Arihant’s GK book (costs around 30 Rs) and have a glimpse of what all happened last year. Don’t cram anything. Just have a reading.

Will write a detailed post on GK, before AIIMS. Concentrate on your core subjects right now.

  7. Bindu says:

What is the order of ranking of the 6 aiims? What is the rating of acms delhi?

    • Deepak Dwivedi says:

Apart from the delhi AIIMS, the rest five are new ones. Its just been two years. So giving any ranking to those would be inappropriate.
If u still get an option to choose from any of the five, it solely depends on your convenience as of which state you prefer because the faculty is new in all the five so individually they cannot be judged at the moment.

  8. vinita says:

Is it necessary to study bio frm any reference book or it is sufficient to study only frm NCERT??

  9. PRANIT MEHTA says:

    Dear Sir,
i am getting Rajendra Institute of Medical Science, Ranchi through my state counselling by NEET-UG. Should i prefer it over KMC, Manipal??

  10. shilpa goyal says:

is that sufficient for preparing aiims level biology ncert class 11 n 12 or plz tell some specific books for physics ,chem. and bio. n also abt some gernal knowledge questions

  11. Purva Natoo says:

I wish to perceive AFMC but i have no defence background at my house. So will it be possible for me to get admission in AFMC?

  12. etika says:

hw many hrs of self study is sufficient 2 crack medical for a dropper?

is ncert biology sufficient for ip cet 2013? please guide me.

  14. Shreya says:

Do I need to read ncert phy

    • VAIBHAV TRIVEDI says:

If u hv sufficient time thn go through it….specially 12th physics….in modern physics and magnetism, ncert can make u better understand specially for A-R questions and a lot more concept…
Also go through the objectives of exempler physics…

      • abc says:

        sir
is der no need 2 go through subjective questions of ncert exempler books of all 3 subjcts??
i hv heard dat previous year no que has come frm exemplar books? nd physics exemplar is of iit level ?
so plz suggest should we go through these buks or not? and how? and how to prepare as only few monts r der?

      • krsourabh says:

        U SHOULD GO THROUGH IT.
sm phy exampls r really tough….u can leave them ..bt majority of them r gud….
at first concentrate on 10 year questions of phy. then practise ncert examples.REVISE THEORY BY PRACTISING mcqs.

      • m singla says:

is der no need to go through subjective ques. of ncert exemplar books of all 3 subjects?
